Congregational Transformation Committee

“…let each of you lead the life that the Lord has assigned, to which God called you. This is my rule in all the churches”
(1 Corinthians 7:17)

Every Congregation, like each individual person, has a lifecycle—a birth, development, maintenance, decline, and death.  Yet the congregation’s lifecycle does not have to be linear like, a person's life.  A congregation can continually transform, thus continuing its health and relevance of ministry in the community.  Plot your congregation on the lifecycle.

Transformation: A marked change, as in appearance or character, usually for the better.

Three types basic types of Transformation:

Redevelopment: is for a congregation that finds itself toward the end of the lifecycle.  This is a radical re-evaluation and implementation of new and dynamic ministry approaches.

Revitalization: Is for a congregation on the downward slope of the lifecycle.  The new ministry approach is aggressive as the congregation rediscovers its purpose in ministry.

Renewal:  Is for a congregation at the top of the lifecycle.  This is an ongoing process of evaluating and adapting ministry to ensure the congregation’s effectiveness at spreading the gospel.
