Christian
Education Ministry Team
"The
purpose of the Christian Education Ministry Team is to support
and resource the congregations of the Presbytery by providing
training for ministries to senior adults, adults, young adults,
college students, youth, children and their families in the
areas of spirituality and nurture, education for stewardship
and leadership training." (from the Presbytery Manual,
adopted July 10, 2001)
The
Christian Education Ministry strives to resource our congregation
through:
- Officer
Development – supporting officer training and development,
currently working on a special project dealing with officers

- The
Resource Connection – has it's own web page – www.theresourceconnection.org;
Director=Mardee Rightmyer; Assistant = Sue Huff
- The Fall Leadership Event is held the third Saturday in August, offering many workshops to help congregational leaders in the areas of Christian Education, Evangelism, Officer Development, Congregational Development and Congregational Transformation. This is a big leadership event, offered for the congregations of Cherokee, Greater Atlanta and Northeast Georgia Presbyteries.

Women - offering Bible studies, leadership development, missions and congregational women's activities; Moderator = Mary Martin (St Luke's Presbyterian)
- Presbyterian
Men - offering a connection with Men's Ministries locally and denominationally
- The
Youth Ministry
Council - made up of youth and adult advisors from our congregations,
which plans for presbytery wide youth events, works on leadership
development of our youth and resources the congregations as
requested
- Campus
Ministry - through the Georgia State Campus Ministry Cabinet,
we have active campus ministry programs at the Atlanta University
Center, Emory University, GA State and GA Tech, with the hopes
of expanding these ministries. In addition, GA Tech's Westminster
Christian Fellowship has an outreach toward international students
and their families, through the denomination's Volunteer in
Mission Program
- The
Senior Adult Ministries Committee - a committee of 21 from
various congregations, which plans for two major events a year
(the Spring Fling on the first Wednesday in May and the Fall
Outing on the first Wednesday in October, both held at Calvin
Center) AND which urges our congregations to build a priority
for congregational older adult ministry
- The
support of Christian Educators within the presbytery, including
monthly meetings for fellowship and education (September through
May) and certification process support
- The
Association of Presbyterian Church Educators – www.apcenet.org.
